New Telecom Connection Voucher Scheme

by isleofman.com 31st March 2017

The Department of Economic Development has launched a Telecom Connection Voucher Scheme (TCS) for local businesses. The scheme provides ?500 towards the cost of connection and first year broadband or leased-line rentals for new Isle of Man businesses established in an export earning sector.

Following a recent review of the Island’s telecoms infrastructure, the scheme has been developed to add an extra measure to the wider package of support and financial assistance available to make it easier and more attractive for people looking to start a business on the Isle of Man.

Laurence Skelly MHK, Minister for the Department of Economic Development, commented:

‘The Telecom Connection Voucher Scheme offers a further benefit for local entrepreneurs looking to make the first leap in setting up their business on the Island or for existing local businesses starting a new venture. It also gives an extra incentive for off-island businesses looking to set up on the Island and complements the suite of financial assistance schemes that are available through the Department of Economic Development to businesses considering the Isle of Man as their base.

‘The TCS is aligned with both the Government’s Digital Strategy and Programme for Government by offering opportunities that will encourage businesses to establish and grow in the Isle of Man. The introduction of this scheme further demonstrates our commitment to creating a supportive and nurturing business environment for local business.’

The scheme has been introduced to support businesses looking to set up their company within the primary export earning sectors on the Isle of Man and will initially run to 28th February 2018. To apply, businesses must be eligible for financial assistance from the Department of Economic Development.
