Manx Telecom pricing changes offer savings for loyal customers

by isleofman.com 4th April 2017

Manx Telecom has announced changes to fixed line rental packages, per minute call charges, and broadband rental charges. All changes come into effect on May 1st, 2017.

The changes are designed to reflect customer trends away from making fixed line to fixed line calls and towards fixed line to mobile calls, and increased usage of both mobile and data services. In addition, Manx Telecom will provide savings for loyal customers who take multiple services from the company; these include fixed line, broadband and pay monthly mobile subscription services.

• Customers who have a fixed line, with ADSL or VDSL broadband, and a Pay Monthly mobile subscription on the same account from Manx Telecom, will see their fixed line rental increase by ?3, and their broadband monthly rental increase by 50 pence per month – this increase of ?3.50 will be offset by a multi-service discount of ?4.50 against their broadband tariff. In this case, the customer’s total monthly bill will be reduced by ?1. A large volume of Manx Telecom customers are eligible for this discount - extending to two thirds of the company’s residential ADSL base.

• There are multiple changes to Manx Telecom per minute call rates from fixed lines – each change significantly reduces per minute call rates from fixed to mobile services both nationally and internationally, making it cheaper per minute to call friends and family from fixed lines to a mobile device anywhere. Reductions in per minute call rates from fixed to mobile devices represent savings of between 30% and 50%.

• Manx Telecom’s Low User Choice tariff is designed for customers for whom a home landline is their primary means of communication and or it helps them keep in touch if they are on specific low income Government benefit. Manx Telecom has excluded this tariff from the ?3 fixed line rental increase.

• Manx Telecom will continue to provide for free a wide range of value-added services such as Voicemail, Caller Display, Priority Fix, Star Services and Groups Call Free with selected fixed line tariff plans.

All prices above include VAT. Full details of the changes can be found at www.manxtelecom.com/changes.

Stephen Kane, Head of Retail Product at Manx Telecom, commented: “All of these changes represent an important part of our business strategy which will allow us to continue to invest in people, services and infrastructure on the Isle of Man. We have given a great deal of consideration to these price changes and designed them to reflect customer trends towards calling mobile devices, increasing their broadband and mobile data usage. In addition, we also wanted to start recognising and rewarding loyal customers who take multiple services from us, making every effort to apply savings where we can and keep increases to a minimum. As customers continue to optimise their fixed line tariff plan and their fixed call usage, we will continue to offer supporting money saving advice via www.manxtelecom.com/savemoney. Of course customers may also choose alternative services, such as increasingly popular OTT VoIP services plus Skype, Facebook Messenger, Facetime etc, so our focus will remain on investing in making broadband and mobile data related services faster, more widely available, and more cost effective.”
