The Isle of Man Treasury is pleased to announce the launch of a new set of Manx decimal circulating coins next Monday, April 10, 2017.

The set, the first since 2004, will include a new version of the Manx five-pound coin (image attached), which has not been seen in common circulation since the 1980s. It is hoped this coin will be well received and widely used within the Island.
 
Members of the public are welcome to see the new coins when they are unveiled in the Tynwald Library, Douglas, at 12 noon next Monday (April 10).  Specially prepared coin packs will be available for purchase.

Guests at the event will include Mike Southall, promoting an updated edition of his reference book on Manx coins, and Raphael Maklouf, chairman of Tower Mint Ltd which has produced the new set for the Isle of Man.

The set features the following denominations: Five Pence, Ten Pence, Twenty Pence, Fifty Pence, One Pound, Two Pounds and Five Pounds.

The designs offer a modern presentation of traditional Manx landmarks, themes and traditions, including the Manx Shearwater, Manx cat, Viking longship, Loaghtan sheep, Raven and Falcon, Tower of Refuge and the Three Legs symbol.
