With funds raised through on-island events, newly registered Manx charity Mannin Sepsis has presented the Department of Health and Social Care’s Community Health Team with leaflets on the signs and symptoms of Sepsis in memory of Ann Emily Struthers (daughter of John and Dee Struthers). These leaflets are to be included in the Personal Child Health Record, also known as the 'Red Book', issued to all new parents in the Isle of Man.
It is hoped that by raising awareness of Sepsis, if a parent becomes concerned about their child's health or their child has any of the symptoms listed in the leaflet then it will encourage them to ask "Could it be Sepsis?", alerting medical staff to assist in accurate assessment and if necessary administering appropriate treatment and hopefully saving lives.
