Simcocks raises money for Isle of Man Hyperbaric Chamber

by isleofman.com 7th April 2017

Each year Simcocks adopts one particular charity to support for 12 months with the aim to make a significant contribution that will impact on Isle of Man life.

The Social Committee compile a short list and employees vote for the organisation they’d like to support. In 2016, we chose to support the Isle of Man Hyperbaric Chamber.

The Isle of Man Hyperbaric Chamber provides hyperbaric oxygen therapy to a wide range of patients suffering from injuries and chronic medical conditions. A purpose-built unit has two multiplace chambers with equipment for the provision of intensive care, utilising mixed gases and saturation treatments.

Simcocks employees worked together to raise money through a variety of fundraising activities including sponsored walks, cake baking, and dress-down days and even a sponsored skydive!Over the course of a year, ?2,000 was raised for the charity.

Simcocks Director, Alex Spencer, said: “At Simcocks, our staff share one thing in common – a commitment to put something back into the community in which we live and work. Each year we choose one organisation to support in our yearly fundraising activities and we were passionate about supporting the Isle of Man Hyperbaric Chamber to keep the vital facility open for the benefit of the Isle of Man public.”

Charity representative, Debbie Barron said: “We are delighted by the money raised by Simcocks; half of which will go towards the daily running costs of operating the two chambers and half which will go towards ensuring that the centre has a secure future. We’re always grateful for donations received – big or small – so that island residents and others in need continue to benefit from this non-invasive form of healing.”
