You can meet all sorts of creatures as the Family Library goes animal crackers over the Easter holidays.
Animals will be visiting the library on a number of days.
On Tuesday, April 11, there will be a visit from the PAWS for therapy dog. The next day, April 12, there will be a visit from owls. On April 19, the library will have a visit from reptiles and April 20 will see the animal theme switch to hedgehogs.
You can see the animals between 2pm and 3pm on each of the above days.
To tie in with the animal crackers theme, drop-in crafts are being held on a number of days, up until 4pm. On April 11, it is dog hats (?2); April 12, dangly hens (?3);, April 13, rabbit boxes (?2), April 19, woolly snakes (?3); April 20/21 is a pick and mix day for craft.
On top of that, Tuesday, April 18, will see the library host a Kukeri mask-making workshop from 11am-3.30pm. A Kukeri is a Bulgarian mask used to scare evil spirits. To cover the cost of materials, it is ?5 to take part, but no need to book, just drop in.
Mary Cousins, librarian in charge, said: ‘We are really looking forward to welcoming the animals to the library.
‘On top of all the special Easter events, we will be providing many of our regular services and, of course, there are thousands of books and lots of games for people to use.
‘We are also very excited about the Kukeri mask-making workshop. You may not have any evil spirits to worry about, but we’re sure you can think of someone they would come in handy for!’
The library is next to the children’s playground in Westmoreland Road, Douglas.
The Family Library operates as a charity and runs the Mobile Family Library and a Schools Service. To keep up to date on events and to find out more about the services available, check out the Family Library page on Facebook or visit www.familylibrary.im or call the library on 640650.
