Manx charity Junior Achievement Isle of Man is inviting people to join them on the adventure of a lifetime, trekking the Great Wall of China. The fundraising challenge will take place in April 2018 to support the charity’s work with more than 5,500 young people in the island’s schools. The trek has been arranged in association with a challenge specialist and the eight-day fundraising adventure has been scheduled to start on April 8, 2018, the highlight of which will be a five-day trek along the 6000km-long landmark.
Four members of the Junior Achievement team, including chief executive Sue Cook, will be heading for China and they would like as many people as possible to join them. Communications and events coordinator Alex Day said:
‘Junior Achievement is well known for its inventive fundraising initiatives, but this one is our most ambitious yet. The trek may be a year away but there are a lot of preparations to be made - administrative and practical – and the April 2018 departure date gives people a chance to get in some fundraising and fitness training, too. ‘We see this as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to challenge yourself, witness one of the world’s most spectacular man-made structures that continues to exert a fascination like no other and, of course, to raise funds to support our work helping to transform young people’s future prospects and create the entrepreneurs of tomorrow.’For an informal chat contact Alex Day, 666266,
