With the construction work near completion, Kevin Quirk of The Joey Dunlop Foundation (JDF) was privileged to take time out to have a meeting with Dodie of SSAFA (IOM) and former soldier Rob Maxwell of injured veteran’s charity Can Do.
With the TT Festival fast approaching, the meeting was to make final arrangements for the injured veterans holiday at the JDF complex during the TT Festival.
The JDF team are pleased to offer free accommodation to our special guests, originally 8 but now 12. We have received support from SSAFA and British Legion. We are currently finalising the hiring of a mini bus from Bus Vannin.
The mini invasion starts when the ex soldiers arrive on the SeaCat on 30/5/17, we are now looking for the island to offer these heroes something special.
I understand that Murray's Motorcycle Museum is on their must do list and Peter Murray will no doubt welcome them with open arms and a cup of tea.
They have been recruited into holding collection buckets at the Chubby Brown show on Mad Sunday.
Kevin said, ‘We have been in discussion with Rob for three years regarding this trip and are pleased that demand is so high and we really want this TT visit to be a holiday of a life time.'
