Ahoy There! The Exploratorium returns with a Nautical Adventure for all

by isleofman.com 20th April 2017

Building on the success of 2016’s ‘Happy Holiday’ theme, 2017 sees the Exploratorium return to the Manx Museum with a nautical theme, inviting prospective pirates and swashbuckling shipmates to dress up, explore and enjoy an interactive experience across the high seas.

Sponsored by Lloyds Bank, the Exploratorium offers an interactive gallery space for all ages which encourages people to learn about their heritage through play. Lucy Felton, Business Development Manager for Lloyds Bank said:

“We are proud and delighted to continue our sponsorship of the Exploratorium at the Manx Museum this year.  Last year, we were able to witness firsthand how the gallery genuinely encourages learning through fun and we’re sure it will carry on inspiring, engaging and educating our Island community. “

Katie King, Community Outreach and Learning Support Officer with Manx National Heritage, who developed the display, commented:

“The Exploratorium continues to show that it’s possible to have fun and interact within a museum as well as presenting opportunities to learn through play, which is a strong educational tool.  We want the space to engage people of all ages, particularly children and help them to develop an enthusiasm for and understanding of their Island’s nautical history.”

An activity day with Lloyds Bank will be hosted in the gallery on Saturday 17 June. Nautical Adventures in the Manx Museum Exploratorium is open Monday to Saturday, 10am until 5pm until January 2018.  Admission is free.
