MS Society Wheel and Walk takes over NSC Cycle Track on Saturday

by isleofman.com 24th April 2017

A first for the Island, the Multiple Sclerosis Society Wheel and Walk will take place on Saturday 29 April, come rain or shine.

This fundraiser for the local branch has been designed to appeal to everyone, whether they can walk unaided, use a stick or crutches, or who use a wheelchair or scooter. Being disabled doesn't mean you should be confined to the side lines, and the Wheel and Walk is open to everyone.

Derek Patience, Chairman of the MS Society Isle of Man, will be taking part in his wheelchair:

"This is a great opportunity to raise funds for the charity and raise awareness of Multiple Sclerosis,” Derek says.  “It is a devastating, often disabling, incurable condition and our local branch supports anyone with MS and their families in many, many ways.  But it all costs money, and so please sign yourself up for this fun event, or sponsor someone else.  I'm aiming for six laps in my wheelchair, but how many laps can you do?"

The Wheel and Walk is open to anyone, not just people with MS - and it isn't too late to register for the event which starts at 10.15am on Saturday 29 April.

If you’d like to take part and help raise money for this very worthy charity please call Derek on 480755 or email derekpatience@hotmail.com.  Registration costs ?10, and Derek can send you a sponsor form.  Or if you'd rather just make a donation you can do this via the event's fundraising page - www.justgiving.com/fundraising/IsleofManwheelandwalk.
