Tough Mann not tough enough for you? Then go for the double!

by isleofman.com 27th April 2017
The Tough Mann Adventure Challenge in association with Manx Telecom will be twice as hard for some brave competitors this year. Since it began in 2013, the event has been based on a 10km course with a mix of obstacles each year to provide a variety of tests for competitors. This year, to mark the event’s fifth anniversary, organisers have decided to put on a challenge for anyone who wants to push themselves even further by offering the option of completing two laps of the 10km course.

Well over 500 competitors took part last year. Entries are now open for this year’s event which takes place on Saturday August 5th and, as always, it will be held over some of the most rugged terrain that the Isle of Man has to offer with crawls, climbs and carries over all sorts of obstacles – and the promise of a few new challenges designed to test novices and experienced Tough Men and Tough Women.

To enter, or for more information, go to www.toughmann.com – news about this year’s event is also on the official Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/ToughMannIOM.

Event organiser Kez Wardell said: “We wanted to do something special for the fifth anniversary, and the two-lap option is a great way to provide a new challenge, even for those competitors who come back year after year. But there’s a choice for both individuals and teams so they can choose either the 10km or 20km distance.”

The entry fee is ?59 for individuals, and ?171 for teams (the fees are the same for both the 10km and 20km options). Tough Mann is a great event for teams because all three team mates must finish within one minute of each other – so there’s a great incentive to help one another get around the course as fast as possible.

The Tough Mann Adventure Challenge is again supporting the Tabitha’s Trust charity (www.TabithasTrust.com) which helps families affected by child bereavement. Competitors who want to support the charity can download sponsor forms from the Tough Mann website.

If you want to get involved with one of the Island’s most popular events, but don’t fancy actually taking part as a competitor, you can be part of the fun as a volunteer. The organising team need volunteers to help set-up and take down the obstacles, and to act as marshals on the day. Why not contact the Tough Mann team at hello@toughmann.com to see how you can get involved.
