On Monday 17th April, adult members of the Cathedral Choir travelled to Wakefield in Yorkshire, to sing services at Wakefield Cathedral.

Directed by Cathedral Director of Music Dr Peter Litman and accompanied by Organ Scholar Max Smith. Choral Evensong was sung throughout the week and included music by Tallis, Batten, Reading, Hoskings, Sumsion, Howells and they were joined by former Cathedral IOM Organ Scholar Jack Oades.

The choir enjoyed their free time spending time together and shopping.

The Dean of Wakefield, the Very Revd Jonathan Greener said, ‘We were thrilled to welcome the choir from Cathedral Isle of Man and both clergy and congregation were very impressed by the high standards of music sung at our services. It was wonderful that music could continue at Wakefield whilst our own Cathedral Choir were on their holiday. We very much hope the choir will visit us again’.

Director of Music, Dr Litman said, ‘Our Cathedral choir performed to an extremely good standard, flying the flag for high quality choral music for the Manx nation!’
