The Henry Bloom Noble Healthcare Trust has appointed former senior finance industry worker Frank Pattison to its board of trustees.
Mr Pattison, who lives in Ramsey with his wife Jean, has extensive experience in the financial services industry as well as working with a number of Isle of Man charities and organisations.
He is the latest appointment to the Trust’s board, helping to oversee its mission to improve healthcare in the Isle of Man. The Trust was established in 1888 by Henry Bloom Noble, in memory of his wife Rebecca. Thanks to generous public donations and bequests, today’s trustees continue the work of enhancing Island healthcare by funding the provision of new equipment, training and education, research and measures to improve conditions in hospitals, care homes and at home for convalescing patients, the sick, disabled, handicapped and infirm people.
Trust chairman Terry Groves said: ‘The Trust considers a wide range of proposals from medical and healthcare staff which could materially improve the delivery of diagnosis, treatment and care in the Island. We assess each suggestion on its merits, drawing on the expertise of our trustees to consider the potential medical benefits as well as the business case for each submission.
‘Frank brings many decades of experience in the finance industry to the Trust, and years of dedicated service to local organisations in a voluntary capacity. His appointment to the board enhances our ability to assess each business case, looking carefully at the cost-benefit analysis, and the unique perspective he can offer from his other voluntary work.’
Mr Pattison moved to the Isle of Man in 1990 after several years working in Jersey, where he managed the team which dealt with the administration of NatWest and Coutts Offshore funds. He was appointed Managing Director of the Isle of Man-based trust division of a South African trust company, which required extensive travel in the UK, Europe and South Africa. Later he became Operations Director of a more local Isle of Man Fiduciary Services Provider and after five years left that role to pursue his inclination to travel.
Outside of his career Mr Pattison is a member of Ramsey Rotary Club, serving as President in the Club’s centenary year, and is a member of the Isle of Man Live at Home Committee and the chair of the Northern Live at Home Committee. Live at Home have around 700 members whose interests are represented by 12 fulltime staff and some 400 volunteers.
He is also a member of the Island’s Mental Health Commission.
In his spare time Mr Pattison is a keen golfer, playing at Ramsey where he was a club director for three years when it first became a limited company.
He said: ‘The Trust does extraordinary work ensuring the latest advances in technology, training and teaching are accessible to healthcare professionals in the Isle of Man, enhancing the services delivered to the public. I look forward to offering my experience to the Trust as we assess future proposals and continue the longstanding aim of the Trust, to improve healthcare for our Island.’
