by isleofman.com 4th May 2017

Students from MoveIt Dance lit up Blackpool’s Tower Ballroom at the recent Cheerdance UK competition.

Cheerdance UK, held over two days, brought together the top 1,000 cheerleading dancers from around Britain. The 70 students from MoveIt Dance secured a magnificent 37 trophies, including eight 1st places, six 2nd places and ten 3rd places.

Alongside students aged from under 4 to 15, the medallist included some of the students’ parents who competed in categories for mums, under the group title ‘MoveIt Mommas’.

MoveIt Founder Kate Caine, who accompanied the dancers and competed as a MoveIt Momma herself, said: ‘We are so proud of all of our cheerdancers who have done themselves, MoveIt Dance and the Isle of Man proud. This is the fifth time we’ve competed at Cheerdance UK and each time we are impressing the judges and the other competitors.

‘More than half of our dancers came away with medals, which is a tremendous result and goes to show the level of talent we have on the Isle of Man. The students really look forward to the competition and performing at this world-class venue is a great experience for them.’

MoveIt Dance will be competing again in November at the Cheerdance UK competition in Blackpool.

MoveIt Dance, in Westmoreland Road, Douglas, opened in March 2014 and teaches a variety of dance styles, including Freestyle, Cheer, Lyrical, Street, Musical Theatre, Ballet, Tap and many others.
