The year-long celebration of the Island’s built environment, Isle of Architecture, has two very different events organised for May.
On Saturday 13 May, Roy Baker will lead a walking tour of Peel, starting at 10.50am outside the Leece Museum on Peel Quay. Join Roy, Curator of the Leece Museum, and Isle of Architecture for a fascinating glimpse into Peel’s past, and discover more about how buildings and the people who worked within them helped shape its history.
Places are limited, so booking via www.isleofarchitecture.com or www.facebook.com/isleofarchitecture/events is essential. Booking is free, but suggested donations of ?8 will be taken on the day.
The following weekend, Saturday 20 May, Gaelic choir Caarjyn Cooidjagh continues its quest to sing unusual songs in unusual locations with unusual acoustics, with a ‘Sing and Stroll’ roaming tour of the Villa Marina and the surrounding area. The choir will be accompanied by the brilliant Charles Guard who will enlighten the audiences on the building’s history, whilst the talents of the choir will be tested in some of the venue’s more surprising spaces!
This ‘Sing and Stroll’ is also free to attend. Just register your interest on the Isle of Architecture website or Facebook page and arrive for an 11am start at the 1st floor of the Villa Marina, on the sofas near the cafe area.
