The Manx MSA Trust was formed by Chris Blake in 2015 when he was diagnosed with MSA after 5 years of NHS investigations. Multiple System Atrophy (MSA) is a degenerative neurological disease that affects adult men and women. It is caused by atrophy or shrinking of nerve cells in several (or multiple) areas of the brain which can result in problems with multiple bodily functions such as speech, movement, balance and blood pressure control.
The driver for the charity is to raise awareness of the disease on the Island, to raise funds towards research into early diagnosis and support those individuals who are diagnosed with MSA on the Island and their families.
