Manx Lottery Trust Grant for Rob Vine Fund

by isleofman.com 26th May 2017

The Rob Vine Fund has received a grant of ?30,000 from Manx Lottery Trust to help with the purchase of a new ambulance to cover Isle of Man motorsport events.

The charity applied for a grant towards a total cost of ?76,299 through the Manx Lottery Trust Community Awards Scheme. The new ambulance will replace one of the three ‘Hogg Motorsport’ vehicles which are more than 10 years old.

In addition to providing rescue cover for motorsport competitors and spectators around the Island, the ambulances have also been used to help the Isle of Man Ambulance Service in times of crisis. The rescue vehicles are staffed by volunteer crews from the Hogg Motorsport Association. Over the next three years the Rob Vine Fund is aiming to replace all of the older ambulances.

Stuart Greaves from the Rob Vine Fund said: ‘We’re really grateful to Manx Lottery Trust. The purchase of the new ambulance is vital in ensuring that we can supply the best medical care to motorsport competitors and supporters when they need it most.

‘The Island has such a rich motorsport history and we are lucky to have so many fantastic events held here throughout the year so it’s important that the Fund supplies medical resource to provide care at these events and relieve the local ambulance service.’

Lulu Gillow, Chair of the Manx Lottery Trust, added: ‘The ambulances provided by the Rob Vine Fund do valuable work and we are delighted to give a grant to help it provide medical support to the community.’

The Fund was established in memory of Rob Vine, a competitor who died after a crash at the Black Dub during the 1985 Senior TT, to  provide medical/rescue equipment and training for all doctors, paramedics and marshals involved in 2, 3 and 4-wheeled motorsport events in the Isle of Man.
