Fantastic Beasts descend on King William's College!

by isleofman.com 13th June 2017

Fantastic Beasts descended on King William’s College as part of a weekend of movie magic.

The first in a series of prequels to the Harry Potter series of books and films, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them was screened in the ‘Quad’ over two nights.

Fantastic Beasts was released in cinemas in late 2016, written by Harry Potter author JK Rowling and focusing on the adventures of wizard and magizoologist Newt Scamander in 1926 New York.

The first screening on the Friday night was for parents, pupils, alumni, past parents and staff of King William’s College and The Buchan School.

The movie then had a public screening on the Saturday night, and on the Sunday night the beasts gave way for Oscar-winning musical La La Land. The weekend was organised in partnership with Ultimate Productions.

Kara Hughes-Jones, Head of External Relations for King William’s College and The Buchan School, said: ‘It was a very successful weekend, with more than 400 people attending over the three nights. On the Friday night, which was exclusively for our pupils, parents, alumni, past parents and staff, the audience was treated to a short film made by pupils from The Buchan, using the School’s new green screen.

‘We would like to thank the team at Ultimate Productions for collaborating with us on this movie weekend, and also the Secret Pizza Company, which was in attendance on the Saturday and Sunday nights.’
