Safety Notice – Beko and Blomberg Condenser Tumble Dryers

by isleofman.com 13th June 2017

The Isle of Man Office of Fair Trading is making the public aware of an important safety notice issued in relation to specific models of Beko and Blomberg condenser tumble dryers.

Beko Plc (‘Beko’) are initiating a voluntary repair programme as a precautionary measure to locate 3,450 8kg and 9kg Beko and Blomberg condenser tumble dryers manufactured between May and November 2012.

As part of its ongoing monitoring, Beko has identified a batch issue with a third party supplied component.  In rare circumstances, the component concerned could fail and overheat, leading to a risk of fire.

Beko has decided to proactively contact the owners of these condenser tumble dryers to offer a free of charge in-home check and to modify affected products to remove any potential risk.

The affected Models are DCU9330W, DCU9330R, DCU8230, DSC85W and TKF8439A.

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO

If you purchased an 8kg or 9kg Beko or Blomberg condenser tumble dryer between May 2012 and May 2013, you should follow the steps outlined below:

1. Check the model and serial number of your dryer using this link on Beko’s website: http://tinyurl.com/y8nptkmw.
2. If your dryer is within the potentially affected range, register online for a qualified engineer to visit your property to check and, if required, repair your dryer.

Alternatively, you can call Beko on 0800 917 2018 to speak to customer services.

If you do not have access to a computer, you can contact the OFT directly if you think that you may have purchased one of the dryers affected.
