Progress on possible Ramsey Marina raised in House of Keys

by isleofman.com 14th June 2017

At yesterday's sitting of the House of Keys, Member for Ramsey, Dr Allinson, asked Ray Harmer, Minister for Infrastructure as to what progress has been made with developing a Ramsey marina since the public consultation in 2009?

Mr Harmer confirmed that the Department has not progressed a scheme specifically for developing a marina at Ramsey.

He added: "The Department recognises that Ramsey Harbour is important as a commercial working harbour, not only for the local community but also for the Island as a whole. The Department, in conjunction with the Department of Economic development, is currently exploring opportunities for developing the Ramsey shipyard estate.

"Investment in the harbour infrastructure has been made over the winter period. This includes efforts to improve the appearance and functionality of the 'Talk of the Town' site and the replacement of the 'Pepperpot’ Lighthouses.

"The issue of Ramsey Harbour will also be considered as part of the Department’s Harbours Maritime Strategy, which is being developed."
