Exhibition of Student Art

by isleofman.com 19th June 2017

An exhibition of work from UCM’s Art, Design and Media students opened this Thursday. For the first time, the Art Department has combined their further and higher education exhibitions into one giant show, which showcases the work of over a hundred students, and which ranges from traditional drawing and painting to app design.

This annual event not only gives students the opportunity to display a selection of their work, but also to practice presentation skills and consider their audience; all of which form part of their final assessment.

Helen Fox, Head of Art, Design and Media at the College said, “Once again I am very proud of what the students have managed to achieve. There is an extremely diverse offering of creativity from those studying on Level 2 courses through to higher education students   working on our degree programme. I think people will be amazed at the variety and the high level of accomplishment on display.”

The show is open to the public and apart from simply enjoying the art, Helen suggests, “Viewing the exhibition is an excellent way to find out more about a course, you can see the range of work studied and the quality of outcomes produced.”

The work will be on display in the College’s Art Department at the main, Homefield Road site, until June 30th, but please be aware that some parts of the exhibition may be unavailable at times due to assessment taking place. Helen added, “We apologise in advance if this causes anyone any difficulties, please ask to see a member of staff, and we will see if we can accommodate you.”

If you are interested in becoming a student in UCM’s Art, Design and Media Department, please contact Clair Ledsham on 648204.
