Isle of Man's beauty celebrated in new Manx Blind Welfare Society calendar

by isleofman.com 19th June 2017

Manx Blind Welfare Society will unveil its new fundraising calendar on Tynwald Day it has been confirmed.

The 2018 calendar features 12 stunning photographs showing off the Isle of Man’s beauty, which were submitted for inclusion following an appeal by the Society.

Costing just ?5, the calendars will be available from the Manx Blind Welfare Society stall at the Tynwald Day Fair in St John’s on 5th July, as well as from The VIP Store in Strand Street, Douglas, by calling 674727 or by emailing dthomson@mbws.org.im.

All proceeds will go towards funding the Society’s work looking after the interests of more than 600 people in the Isle of Man with serious sight loss, providing essential free services including advice, support, specialist equipment, a talking book library, recorded news service and social groups.

Manx Blind Welfare Society Volunteers Coordinator & Events Organiser Debbie Thomson said: ‘With our new calendar we wanted to show off the beauty of the Island and encouraged local photographers, especially budding amateurs, to send us their favourite images. We were overwhelmed by the response and delighted by some of the truly unique views of the Isle of Man – the hardest job was choosing just 12 to include!

‘Once again all proceeds from sales will support the Society’s work thanks to the kind support of our sponsors, Ridgeway Gas Services, Isle of Man Advertising & PR, Patricia Wild Opticians, Assist Consultancy, Johnson Technical Services, Specsavers, Onchan District Commissioners, Karson’s Pharmacy, the Macular Society, ACElectrical, Ellan Vannin Fuels and GH Corlett.’

She added: ‘In previous years we’ve sold calendars to people in Australia, America and around Europe as well as here at home, and with such wonderful photographs to enjoy we expect the 2018 calendar to be in demand – so make sure you don’t miss out.’
