Mental Health Committee to hear evidence

The Social Affairs Policy Review Committee, a Standing Committee of Tynwald, will be taking public oral evidence on Friday 23rd June at 10.30am in the Legislative Council Chamber, Legislative Buildings, Bucks Road, Douglas. The Committee is investigating the issue of mental health, looking at the scale and severity of mental ill health in the Island, the health and care resources in place to respond and the impact on other public services including the police. Evidence will be heard from the following persons at the times stated:

10.30: Ms Lorna Mackellar
11.00: Michael Manning (Graih) and Mandy Davies (Vulnerable Adult Health visitor service)
11.30: Dr Lynne Hulme (Chair of the Isle of Man Health and Care Association); Ms Dee Beldon (Trustee of the Isle of Man Health and Care Association)
12.00: Chief Constable Gary Roberts, Chief Inspector Steve Maddocks (Isle of Man Constabulary); Ms Angela Murray (DHSC: Director of Mental Health), Mr Ross Bailey (DHSC: Community Mental Health Service for Adults Manager)

The Members of the Social Affairs Policy Review Committee appointed by Tynwald are Mr David Cretney MLC (chair), Mr David Ashford MHK, and Mr Martyn Perkins MHK.

The evidence will be taken in public; members of the public are welcome to attend. The evidence can also be heard via the “live and listen again” audio webcast service on the Tynwald website.
