Superheroes at Crossroads Care took 15 minutes out of their busy working day to have a hearing check-up courtesy of Hidden Hearing.
As part of Hidden Hearing’s wellness campaign Audiologist Sophie Oakley and Diane Kitt visited Crossroad Care’s Masham Court in Douglas to provide free hearing tests for staff, carers and other users of the facility.
Karen Harris, who is raising money for the charity’s superhero campaign by wearing her cape for 100 days, said: ‘We think all carers are superheroes which is why we are running our superhero campaign. Often these superheroes forget, or don’t have time, to look after themselves which is why we jumped at the chance for Hidden Hearing to visit us to provide free hearing tests for our staff, carers and centre users.’
A total of 17 people took advantage of the visit last week, with free annual check-ups and complementary microsuction being offered where needed. All who received the test were reminded of the importance of regular hearing check-ups, as they would do with an eye test.
Sophie added: ‘Having your hearing tested is quick, simple and pain free but it’s something many people neglect to do. The staff and carers from Crossroads Care are really busy so it was great to be able to visit them to provide the tests at a time and place convenient to them, helping them to look after themselves whilst still carrying out their superhero activities.’
The wellness campaign aims to promote all aspects of wellness with an emphasis on ensuring your hearing is the best it can be through regular, free hearing tests, adequate hearing protection where needed and hearing enhancements as required.
Hidden Hearing operates from clinics in Douglas, Ramsey and Castletown. Island residents benefit from the convenience, knowledge and welcome provided by a local business, and the expertise and experience of a large company with multiple branches around the UK.
