Newfield congratulates David Johnson on strong Isle of Man TT performance

by isleofman.com 23rd June 2017

Staff and Directors at Newfield have congratulated Australian motorcycle racer David Johnson on his strong performance during the 2017 Isle of Man TT.

The Isle of Man-based eGaming firm is a long-standing personal sponsor of the popular rider, who campaigned for the iconic British Norton marque in the Superbike and Senior races once again this year, as well as riding the Fleetwood Grab Services BMW S1000RR in the Superstock class.

Davo, as the racer is known to fans, visited Newfield’s Douglas office during the TT, and welcomed guests from the firm to the TT Grandstand to meet the Norton team and see the stunning SG6 Superbike.

Given the honour of starting at number one in all three races he contested,  Davo achieved top 10 finishes in the Superbike, Superstock and Senior TT races, and another 130mph-plus average speed lap of the legendary 37.73-mile TT Mountain Course. He secured 7th in both the Superbike and Senior races and 8th in the Superstock.

Newfield Director Mark Reynolds said: ‘As long-time supporters of Davo it was great to welcome him back to the Isle of Man for the TT and spend some time with him here at our offices as well as in the paddock. We were really excited when it was announced he had been given the honour of starting at number one, and we were all looking forward to hearing that distinctive Norton roar as he headed off towards Bray Hill.

‘Just finishing a TT race is an incredible achievement, but to secure three finishes in the top eight at a time when racing at the TT is so competitive is a major accomplishment. We enjoy a brilliant relationship with Davo, whose upbeat personality and professional dedication and determination reflect the qualities we at Newfield prize so highly.

‘On behalf of the firm I’d like to offer my congratulations to Davo on a stunning TT, and look forward to seeing him enjoy even more success in the future.’

Davo added: ‘I’m still buzzing after a brilliant TT and getting into the top eight in all three races. It’s always great to be back in the Isle of Man and I was really pleased to get the chance to meet up with the guys from Newfield. We only get to go racing because of the support of our sponsors, so it was fantastic to say a personal thank you to the whole Newfield team.’
