At approximately 10.35pm on Saturday 24th June 2017 Police attended the report of a serious assault, which is said to have occurred on the paved area outside the House of Manannan, directly opposite the Creek Inn, in Peel. A 25yr old local man has suffered serious head injuries. He was taken by ambulance to Noble’s Hospital where he remains as an in-patient undergoing treatment. His injuries are described as serious, but not life threatening.
Two Peel men aged 18 and 20 yrs were arrested nearby, soon after the report. Both men have subsequently been charged with committing grievous bodily harm with intent. They have remained in Police custody until their court appearance (Monday 26th June 2017).
DC Louise Kennaugh, the officer in case said: “We know that there were a large number of people in the area at the time of this incident, who will have undoubtedly witnessed what has happened. We have already spoken to a number of witnesses, but are keen to speak with anyone who was present, who has not yet spoken to us. This is very much a live enquiry and we would appreciate all help that the public can provide us”.
This case is being investigated by officers from the Criminal Investigation Department, based at Police Headquarters, in conjunction with staff at Peel Police station.
