The 10th Buchan School Triathlon raised more than ?500 for The Children’s Centre.
Held at King William’s College, the annual Buchan School Triathlon was again sponsored by leading international corporate service provider SMP Partners. The event saw 110 children aged between 7 and 11 years take part, with their entry fees being donated to the chosen charity.
SMP Partners Managing Director Mark Denton said: ‘The Buchan School Triathlon is a wonderful event to introduce youngsters to the sport, enabling them to enjoy the fun and exercise as well as experiencing the three disciplines that make up the triathlon. Completing a triathlon gives a sense of tremendous achievement and teaches determination and resilience.
‘It was very fitting that this year the proceeds of the event were donated to The Children’s Centre, enabling the pupils to support other children and their families in the community.’
The triathlon included swimming, cycling and running, and was split into age groups. Each participant who finished gained points for their house.
Clifford Dunn, from the school’s P.E. Department, said: ‘I’d like to thank SMP Partners for supporting our event once again, allowing us to provide T-shirts for the children and ensure all money raised through the entry fee could be donated to the charity.
‘It’s a popular event with more than 100 entries and every pupil who took part received a medal, whether they finished first or last. Positions were not recorded because we wanted every child to finish with a smile on their face and be able to say, proudly, “I have completed a triathlon”.’
