Dickson House win King William's College challenge

by isleofman.com 27th June 2017

A team of students from Dickson House was triumphant in the annual ‘College Challenge’ hosted by King William’s College.

The live quiz saw finalists from two of the School’s houses, Colbourne and Dickson, face off to win the much-coveted College Challenge shield.

Competition was fierce, with the eyes of the whole School watching from the seats of King’s Court Theatre. The host, Ed Jeffers, Head of Boarding, took no prisoners and, with each year’s questions written by the staff body, the quiz designed to be fiendishly difficult.

Topics ranged from Linnaean nomenclature to Scottish philosophers, but Dickson House rose to the challenge and walked away with the trophy.

Quizmaster Niall Howell Evans, Head of Science, said: ‘I really thought they were going to find it far more difficult than they did, although the questions on number sequences had them all pretty stumped! I think we may put a few more of those in next year.’
