ManxSPCA Benefits from Matched Funding

by isleofman.com 29th June 2017
The ManxSPCA recently received a welcome boost to its fundraising endeavours with the news that a family living on the Island is to continue with its support of the charity.

The Scheinberg family have helped with the Society’s running costs for the last three years, as well as funding the use of animal behaviourists and outdoor dog pens. This has had a huge impact on the charity’s ability to provide a first-class welfare service to companion animals such as dogs and cats, and to the Island’s wild animals.

They have agreed to match donations received up to ?150,000 per annum for the next three years, which means that when individuals and businesses give money to the Society it will, effectively, be doubled.

Proceeds from the Society’s events, or from events that other people run on its behalf like the recent TT Course Dog Challenge or the Tower of Refuge Swim, will also be matched as will the funds placed in collection boxes.

This demonstrates confidence in the operational health and good governance of the ManxSPCA, which is the Island’s only all-animal charity. Juana Warburton, General Manager of the ManxSPCA, said: ‘We do not receive Government funding and so we rely upon the generosity of the Manx public in order to be able to provide our services. We are immensely grateful to the Scheinberg family, who have incentivised the Manx community to raise funds for the Society – whether this be putting loose change into a collection box, taking part in dress-down days or selling cakes, or planning a larger event like a sponsored dog walk’.

The ManxSPCA’s upcoming 120th birthday celebration on 21st July, Paws for Afternoon Tea, will be an excellent opportunity for the Manx community to show its support – please call Kerry on 851672 for more details.
