Dandara continues St John's produce show sponsorship for 10th year

by isleofman.com 4th July 2017
Award-winning developer Dandara has confirmed it is continuing its sponsorship of the St John’s Produce Show for a 10th consecutive year.

The support will contribute towards the cost of engraving around 50 trophies and providing rosettes for each winner at the show, which takes place on Saturday 2nd September.

First held around 70 years ago, the St John’s Produce Show has 127 classes across sections including sweets, jams and pickles, confectionary, flowers, vegetables, photography, crafts and categories for children, with cash prizes on offer alongside the trophies and rosettes.

It is a well-attended community event, drawing entrants and visitors from across the Isle of Man, and also raises money for local charities. At the end of the show much of the produce exhibited is auctioned with all proceeds going to nominated causes. This year Mannin Sepsis and Victim Support Isle of Man will be the recipients.

Sue Staley, Chairman of St John’s Produce Show, said: ‘We are absolutely delighted to have the support of Dandara once again this year; this is the 10th year the company has supported us and we are very grateful. The continued success of the show owes much to the ongoing sponsorship from Dandara and our other supporters.

‘We have a committed and hard-working committee which is determined to ensure the show is a success, and we know many people are already very excited to exhibit their home-grown and home-made produce and crafts. We look forward to welcoming everyone along to the show at the Methodist Hall in Main Road, St John’s, in September.’

Dandara Managing Director Seamus Nugent added: ‘The St John’s Produce Show is a wonderful event with a real sense of community, and we’re proud to be continuing our longstanding sponsorship. The show brings people together to celebrate the wonderful foods that can be grown and made in the Island, and the skills on show across the classes, as well as to raise money for two very deserving local causes. We wish the organisers every success for another fantastic show in 2017.’
