While this is a difficult time for our members our thoughts go to the residents needing a new home.

GMB, the largest union within the independent care sector, has reacted with anger to the news an Isle of Man care home is to shut.

Four Seasons Health Care announced the closure of The Kings Reach care home, in Ramsey, on Tuesday.

Around 70 staff work at the 49-bed facility.

Alan Parry, GMB Regional Organiser, said:

“GMB, on behalf of its members employed in the home, is seeking further meetings with the company to understand what they have done to mitigate the closure of this care home.

“A lot of questions remain unanswered. “While this is a difficult time for our members our thoughts go to the residents who now are having to look for a new home.

“We know from previous home closures the impact this has on the residents and indeed their health and well-being.”
