The Big Beat 2017 charity fundraising event, proudly supported by PokerStars through their Helping Hands programme, has announced the final fundraising total for local charity Craig’s Heartstrong Foundation.

The Big Beat 2017, a marathon drumming event, saw the group of 6 drummers, Andy James, Steve Leach, Noah Egelnick, Jonny Peacock, Ben O’Hare and Martin Rigby, play for over 53 hours non-stop raising funds for Craig’s Heartstrong Foundation. Now that all the pledges and donations have been received, we are pleased to announce that the final fundraising total stands at ?13,504.

Martin Rigby of The Big Beat said: “We are absolutely delighted to have raised such a fantastic amount for Craig’s Heartstrong Foundation. The Big Beat is a pleasure to be a part of and on behalf of the whole Big Beat team, Andy, Steve, Noah, Jonny and Ben, I must thank everyone who helped and donated before, during and after the event."

“For a small team, and a unique fundraising event such as this, raising over ?13,000 is an amazing achievement which will go on to help such a worthwhile charity in Craig’s Heartstrong Foundation. I must pay particular thanks to Paula Lunt and Paul Healey from Craig’s Heartstrong Foundation, Sue Hammett from PokerStars, Tony Palmer from 3FM, Seamus and the team at the Villa Marina, Andy and Polly from Showtech IOM, Gary Weightman from Vannin Photos and everyone who donated cash, time or a raffle prizes to help us raise this fantastic amount.”

Sue Hammett, Head of Corporate Giving at PokerStars commented:

"We are delighted that The Big Beat was such a huge success and we commend everyone involved in this marathon event for all their hard work in raising money for CHF. We are committed to helping local charities and this is a great example of community fundraising at its very best."

Paul Healey from the Craig’s Heartstrong Foundation charity commented on the fundraising by The Big Beat: “These lads have really done themselves proud, it was an honour to watch them drum over the 53 hours, to see them push themselves so much and keep it going for Craig’s Heartstrong Foundation was amazing.  The funds they raised has already been put back into the community with more public assess defibs appearing round the Island, thank you Big Beat.”

Craig’s Heartstrong Foundation’s next free heart screenings will be held at Nobles hospital on Sept 30th and Oct 1st for anyone aged between 14 and 35.  To book visit www.craigsheartstrongfoundation.co.uk.
