Saturday July 22 sees the revival of Ramsey Carnival.
Sponsored by Microgaming, the carnival and fun day have been arranged with logistical and technical support from Ramsey Town Commissioners.
In addition, local business AFD Software has generously donated funds to provide a giant ‘Flintstone’ slide for children to use for free.
The parade will start from Ramsey swimming pool at 2pm and proceed along Old River Road into North Shore Road then enter Mooragh Park via the Ballacloan entrance.
Mooragh Park will be the setting for all the attractions, with children’s rides, stalls and food outlets, and where prizes will be awarded for the best float and best costume.
There’s still time to register for the parade and categories are:
• Best float;
• Best walking group or band;
• Best local community group.
Ramsey Carnival committee chairman Matt Child said: ‘I am really happy to be part of the committee that is reviving the carnival for Ramsey. Please do come down to support the event. All children’s rides and bouncy castles are provided free for children to go on as many times as they like.’
Vehicle entry forms are available from Ramsey Town Hall and must be submitted no later than Friday July 21 at 12noon. Walking entries can be made on the day.
Parade entrants must assemble at Ramsey swimming pool no later than 1.15pm in readiness for the parade to depart at 2pm.
There will be a number of road closures to support the event. Mooragh Promenade from its junction with Hope Street to its junction with Old River Road will close at 1.00pm. The rest of the carnival route will close at 1.45pm and roads will open no later than 3pm. Full details can be found on Ramsey Town Commissioners’ or RamseyCarnival 2017 Facebook pages. Visitors to the carnival and Mooragh Park and residents on the carnival route are asked to be aware of the road closures which may affect their journeys on Saturday.
