The Family Library’s Summer Reading Scheme swings into action on Saturday, with the official launch.
Children have already begun to collect their packs for the scheme, which is sponsored by PwC.
A whole summer of activities is lined up to complement the central challenge, to read six books in six weeks.
There will be a series of Generation Game challenges in the library, such as trying to eat jelly with chopsticks, plus home challenges designed to encourage children and parents to do things together.
There is still time to register, in fact you can do so when you call in for the official launch day on Saturday, between 10.30am and 4pm.
Librarian in charge Mary Cousins said: ‘We are really hoping plenty of people roll up to the launch of our Circus-themed reading scheme.
‘It promises to be plenty of fun throughout the summer.
‘We’re really thrilled to have PwC sponsor the reading scheme this year and are very much enjoying the partnership, their sincere and encouraging support for the library has been a lovely boost for us.
Mary added: ‘Our Summer Reading Scheme encourages reading, writing and creativity throughout the school holidays, with more than 300 children signed up for last year.
The scheme is free, although donations are always welcome.
Paul Jones, Assurance Director at PwC Isle of Man, said: ‘The Family Library and Mobile Library have provided such excellent and vital services to the Island for many years, and we are proud to help them continue the superb work they do.
‘The Summer Reading Scheme is always popular, and we hope as many children as possible join in the fun.’
Roll up, roll up! The Tumble Twins will be featuring during Summer Reading Scheme activities!
