Football Grounds show support for Samaritans

by isleofman.com 27th July 2017

Several Manx football clubs have shown their support for Samaritans Isle of Man by promoting their essential services to players and fans.

Samaritans Isle of Man has partnered with six clubs to erect signage at football grounds to encourage anyone who is struggling to cope with their emotions and anxieties to get in touch with them.

Ran by volunteers, Samaritans offer judgement free support, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to ensure there is always someone there to speak to if you are at a low point or need help when going through a tough time.

Gill Porter, Director of Samaritans Isle of Man, said: ‘A recent report produced by Samaritans found that young men were at the highest risk of struggling with their mental health and sadly committing suicide. It’s so important to promote our vital services to reduce this statistic and we’re delighted that the football grounds have agreed to work with us. A huge thank you must go to all the clubs.

‘If anyone is struggling to cope, we are here around the clock to help. There are so many ways to get in touch. You can reach us for free by calling 116 123, via email jo@samaritans.org or by calling into our Douglas branch on Victoria Place, Douglas.'
