Peel Castle O’Limpets Sports Day Spectacular Supported by Lloyds Bank

by isleofman.com 28th July 2017

Manx National Heritage welcomes all budding athletes to take part in their annual sports day at Peel Castle on Thursday 3 August from 2pm-4pm.

The traditional family friendly sports day will feature firm favourites including the traditional egg ‘n’ spoon race, the sack race and a sprint finale.

Each race will be organised by age group, including special races for adults, and sign up will take place at the event.

Katie King, Community Learning Officer for Manx National Heritage, commented:

“The Peel Castle O’Limpets has become a firm summer holiday favourite. Where else can you compete in the ‘Wheelie Fast Barrow Race’, test your skills in the ‘Balance Bonanza’ or indeed balance a pineapple whilst attempting to navigate the obstacle race in fancy dress on our historic running tracks. Surely there is no harder sporting event on the Isle of Man this summer! And don’t worry parents the fun is not all aimed at children...we have races for you too. So lace up your trainers, grab your family, pack a picnic and come along for a fun filled afternoon.”

This year’s event is kindly supported by Lloyds Bank. Lucy Felton, Business Development Officer at Lloyds Bank adds;

“We’re delighted to sponsor what promises to be a really fun family day out and I’m looking forward to spending the afternoon in such a beautiful setting.  Manx National Heritage’s creativity and their ability to give Island residents the chance to not just learn about more about our history and culture but to thoroughly enjoy themselves at the same time continues to impress and surprise me.”

The ‘Peel Castle O’Limpets Sports Day Spectacular’ is a weather dependent event and will not run in wet weather.

For any queries please call 01624 648090 or visit www.manxnationalheritage.im.

Standard admission applies at Peel Castle, with free admission for ACE card holders and members.
