The Manx Breast Cancert Support Group is delighted to announce that the much anticipated ‘Quiet Room’ opened to the public at Liverpool John Lennon Airport on Wednesday 2nd August 2017.

The Quiet Room was graciously opened by Mr Robert Hough who is Chairman of Peel Airports Group.

The room is dedicated to patients flying in from the Isle of Man for treatment or medical appointments in the UK. It is located in the upper level of the departure lounge in the terminal, adjoining the Multi Faith Prayer room and has been funded by the Manx Breast Cancer Support Group to ensure those undergoing treatment have the option to wait in a quiet space before boarding their flights.

Christina Smith of Liverpool John Lennon Airport commented, “Customer experience is always high on our priority list and we always aim to offer a faster, easier, friendlier experience to everyone who visits.  The Quiet Area is a great addition to the terminal and will hopefully benefit those who travel through on a regular basis.”

The Quiet Room is for all Isle of Man patients using the islands Patient Transfer Service, not just for Breast Cancer Patients, ensuring that it benefits many and will greatly improve the necessary travel experience for our Isle of Man residents.

Julie Stokes Co-Chairman of Manx Breast Cancer Support Group said, “The Charity would like to thank BHX a Manx company part of the Egan Reed Group, for all their assistance with furnishings and a special thanks to Steve Robbins for all his help. Also the funding of the quiet Room was helped by the generosity of the Gough Ritchie Trust.”

The Manx Breast Cancer Support Group have to date raised over ?2.1 m and built a state of the art Breast Screening Unit at Nobles Hospital. It continues to fundraise for equipment and to help improve the island services. They intend to open a similar Quiet Room at Ronaldsway Airport in Isle of Man within the next few weeks.
