The Microgaming Health & Care Trust’s most recent donation to the Manx Breast Cancer Support Group has contributed towards the purchase of a new ultrasound machine for the Manx Breast Unit.
The purpose-built clinic at Noble’s Hospital houses the island’s breast screening services and through a ?10,000 contribution, will benefit from a new ultrasound to improve patient access to diagnosis and assessment.
The machine is a welcome addition to the facility and will aid the surgical team in detecting post-operative complications and locating indeterminate breast lesions for biopsy. The new equipment will also assist in assessing post-operative implants in patients undergoing reconstructive treatment after mastectomy.
Julie Stokes, Chairman of the Manx Breast Cancer Support Group, comments: “The Manx Breast Cancer Support Group is thrilled to have received a ?10,000 donation from the Microgaming Health & Care Trust. The new equipment will make an important difference to the Breast Unit team and will help significantly in improving the patient experience. We thank the Trust for their continued support.”
Paul Novellie, Trustee of the Microgaming Health & Care Trust, adds: “The island benefits greatly from the dedicated breast care unit, so the Trust was naturally keen to help the Manx Breast Cancer Support Group again. We know that the new machine will make a real difference to the treatment and diagnosis of patients and in continuing to provide such a vital service here on the island.”
Previous donations from the Microgaming Health & Care Trust have helped to equip The Manx Breast Unit with a Breast Coil, a specialised tool used in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scans.
To date, the Manx Breast Cancer Support Group has raised over ?2.2 million and continues to fundraise in order to ensure the clinic offers a comprehensive breast screening service on-island.
