The VisitIOM.co.uk team braved the cold weather recently to take part in a beach clean at Niarbyl in conjunction with local charity Beach Buddies. Visit IOM will be regularly participating with the charity in the future to help keep the Island’s beaches clean.
The local travel agency is a proud supporter of the Isle of Man’s UNESCO biosphere status which it gained in 2016 as a global example in conservation.
Founder of the Beach Buddies charity, Bill Dale BEM, organises regular beach cleans throughout the year, removing litter and debris from around the island’s coastline. He said, “Our motto is ‘It’s not enough to just stand and stare’. Thanks to volunteers like Visit IOM we can help maintain the beauty of our beaches”.
Visit IOM’s Business Development Manager Darrel Tinnion added, “It is surprising how much litter and debris is washed up on the shores. If we all do our little bit to clean up each week, then collectively we can make a difference in conserving our beaches”.
