Santas spread festive cheer around Douglas!

More than 200 Santas raced around the streets of Douglas this week in the annual Isle of Man Bank Santa Dash.

The event is one of the most famous in the Manx festive calendar, and sees Isle of Man Bank give away more than ?3,000 to local charities. In addition, the event raises much more for local good causes through personal sponsorships and donations. 

The list of the 2017 winners, prize and charities is:

1st male ?300 Jack Okell Alzheimers Society
1st female  ?300 Rachel Franklin MS IOM
2nd male  ?200 Jamie Newton The Children’s Centre
2nd female  ?200 Carly Craig Wish Upon A Dream
3rd male  ?100 Graham Furner Special Olympics IOM/MSPCA
3rd female  ?100 Karen Smith  Wish Upon A Dream
Best Dressed Male  ?100 Kevin Lewin Special Olympics IOM/MSPCA
Best Dressed Female  ?100 Denise Bridson Manx Breast Cancer Support Group
Best Dressed Team  ?100 The Laxey Santa Sleighers  Craig’s Heartstrong Foundation

In addition, a further 15 spot prizes of ?100 were awarded – these were determined at random, based on participants’ finishing positions.

Deniese Smith, Head of Retail Branches, Isle of Man Bank, commented: “It was brilliant to see so many people turning out for the Isle of Man Bank Santa Dash and raising so much money for local charities, all whilst enjoying themselves and spreading some festive cheer! I’m glad to see the sunshine came out just in time for the event which was very welcome after the poor weather we’ve experienced recently!”
