Mental Health: Committee to hear oral evidence

As part of its inquiry into mental health provision, the Social Affairs Policy Review Committee will hear oral evidence from members of the Mental Health Commission at 1:50pm on Friday 12th January 2018.

The hearing will take place in the Legislative Council Chamber, Legislative Buildings, Bucks Road, Douglas. Members of the public are welcome to attend or to listen via the “live and listen again” audio webcast service.

The Mental Health Commission is the body established under the Mental Health Act to review the conditions of those who have been detained under the Act. It also comments on proposed legislation and contributes to and reviews the Code of Practice. The members of the Commission who are expected to appear before the Committee are: Helen Kneale, Ian Buxton, Francis Masserick (Chair), Frank Pattison, and Colin Ring.

The Members of the Social Affairs Policy Review Committee taking evidence will be Mr David Cretney MLC (Chair), Mr David Ashford MHK and Mr Martyn Perkins MHK.
