Fitness facilities at the NSC could be closed for up to three weeks following a fire last week.

Damage was caused to the Fitness Zone and spa suite during the blaze on Wednesday.

Extensive damage was also caused to the male changing area – which will need full refurbishment.  

Smoke penetrated the ventilation systems which resulted in smoke entering the Fitness Zone – this caused damage to the ceiling tiles, air conditioning units.

It also left a thick layer of carbon on the gym equipment.

In order to comply with the warranty for the gym equipment thorough cleaning will be required as well as checks and servicing by specialist suppliers.

Customers who have been affected by the closure of the facilities will be given incentives and credits or extensions.
