Coastguard and lifeboat crews from Douglas were called into action last night to recover a person from the foot of the cliffs at Marine Drive.
It followed a search for a missing person who was located near to the Toll Gate.
Coastguard officers found the person after hearing them shouting for help and lowered two cliff technicians to the site.
Lifeboat crews illuminated the scene and used the inflatable dinghy to go ashore to assist.
The casualty was put on a stretcher and lifted to the top of the cliffs before being transferred to Noble's Hospital.
A spokesperson for Douglas Coastguard says: "All agencies worked very well together to achieve a good result."
