Civil Defence volunteers honoured

by isleofman.com 20th April 2018

Civil Defence volunteers on the Isle of Man have been honoured for their dedication and long service.

They've been thanked for providing support to the Island's other emergency services and the Department of Infrastructure.

Home Affairs Minister Bill Malarkey says: "Having visited a training session within two weeks of being appointed as Minister I was impressed by the wide cross-section of the Island's community that was represented.

"These volunteers, who during the day may work as lorry drivers, teachers and quantity surveyors, to name but a few, were training in their free time to help make the Island a better place to live and work.

"Since then I have seen and admired the work of these volunteers as they put this training into action."

Johnny Sale received the long-service clasp for 27 years of service.

Judith Bartram, John Callow, Joyce Kermeen, Jim MacGregor and Graham Steele receieved long service medals for 15 years of service.

Stewart Kermeen collected a certificate marking 32 years of service on his retirement.
