Households to be surveyed on spending habits

by isleofman.com 23rd April 2018

People on the Isle of Man are being encouraged to tell the government how much they spend.

Letters have been sent out to households asking them to take part in the Household Income and Expenditure Survey.

The Cabinet Office says it will help to shape future finances and inform the development of government policy.

Data collected will be used to determine the basket of goods included in the consumer and retail prices indices which measure Island inflation.

The results will be used in conjunction with information provided by Island businesses to help calculate the indirect tax share under the VAT sharing arrangement with the UK.

Those who take part in the survey will be given ?15.
