Police move to reassure abuse victims

by isleofman.com 27th April 2018

Abuse victims are being reassured they will be given the 'full support' of the police.

It follows recent media coverage on the Island which suggested local officers had failed to respond to a complaint from a man in Norfolk.

The Isle of Man Constabulary says the case had not been reported to them by their UK counterparts.

In a statement the force says: "The IOM Constabulary wants to make it clear that anyone who needs to make a complaint about any abuse, historic or otherwise, should not be discouraged from coming forward."

Officers say cases will always be dealt with by experienced staff who will support the wishes of the victim at every stage of the investigation.
