Firefighters were called into action on Saturday night after a rally car caught fire.

The car was competing in the Manx National rally and was on stage nine.

The Clerk of the Course closed the stage to competitors to allow the appliance to access the stage and deal with the fire.

Fellow competitors and marshals had managed to extinguish the blaze – firefighters used breathing apparatus and a hose reel to damp the vehicle down.
